On Sunday, June 29th, the Northeast Animal Shelter will be holding its Grand Opening Gala to celebrate the move into our new home at 347 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA 01970. It will be a wonderful opportunity for NEAS to open its doors to its donors and the public and to thank everyone for the overwhelming support that has been displayed over the years. It is also a chance to raise funds for continued use by the Shelter to help the many abandoned cats and dogs that cross through our doors each year.
Salem, MA – Sunday June 29th – 11am – 5pm - Here’s how it works…
Ribbon cutting will be at 11am, after which the public is “officially” invited in to tour the shelter, visit the animal residents, and browse through the store and silent auction items. There will be lots of activities for young and old, including: face painting; special appearances by cartoon characters; a stuffed animal wellness clinic (have a real-life vet check out your favorite stuffed friend and receive a wellness certificate after); training demonstrations; “ask the vet”; hourly raffles and refreshments.
The Northeast Animal Shelter is one of New England's largest nonprofit shelters that does not destroy any of the pets entrusted to its care. We have placed thousands of dogs and cats since we opened our doors.
We are located just a half hour north of Boston and easily accessible to all of New England. We hope to see you at our Grand Opening on Sunday, June 29th from 11am – 5pm.

3rd Annual Sickle Cell Disease Walkathon which will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008. As you may know, sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder for which there is no known cure. In the
United States this disease or trait has primarily impacted people of color. However, with the increase of inter-racial relationships, Sickle Cell Disease now affects all ethnicities. Despite being the first disease to be scientifically identified and labeled, sickle cell disease lags behind many of the other chronic illnesses in awareness and research. More information is on our website at www.cscsginc.org.

Saint Anthony’s Feast
August 29 - 31, 2008
The membership of the San Antonio di Padova da Montefalcione Society would like to Welcome
you to the 89th Anniversary of Saint Anthony’s Feast. St. Anthony’s Feast has been celebrated in the Historic North End of Boston since 1919. Vendors specializing in Italian foods, novelties and beverages are among only a few of the attractions. Colorful parades, live entertainment,
rides, games and all-around family fun are the major attractions for most. The highlight of the Feast is the 10-hour parade on Sunday. Beginning at 12:00 Noon, it is a spectacle not to be missed. Ten marching bands accompany the image of St. Anthony through the streets of the North End amidst showers of confetti. Most of the traditions seen are kept as they have been for the past 89 years! We hope that your visit will be an enjoyable one and that you make your
attendance at the Feast a tradition of your own.
